Eczema Treatment: What are your Options?

If you suffer from eczema, you’re probably tired of looking for the best eczema treatment options out there. With so many creams to choose from, it is no easy task to try them all out and determine what works best for you. Not only is this time consuming, but it can get costly buying multiple cream treatments, just to have them not work for you. Let’s take a look at all the eczema treatment options that are available for you.

Creams
There are many different creams available, but what matters is they do not contain high amounts of water, but high amounts of oil. These creams will moisturize the skin, and therefore will help control the itching and flaking of the skin. Many of these creams are available over-the-counter. The FDA has approved two prescription topical cream treatments: Protopic and Elidel. Given the fact that these drugs will suppress the immune system, they are only recommended for use when a person does not respond to other treatments.

Oral Antihistamines
If itching is a problem for you, then oral antihistamines, such as Benadryl may be prescribed or recommended to help stop it. These are generally not used long term, but will get the itching under control so you do not have to scratch all the time. The most effective antihistamines are sedative in nature, and may be available over-the-counter rather than by prescription only.

Oral Corticosteroids
Oral corticosteroids are used on a short term basis to alleviate pain and itching associated with eczema. They are not used for long term because of the potentially harmful side effects associated with their use.

If you’ve tried a number of over-the-counter treatments and prescription treatments from your doctor, and you still have issues with your eczema, then you are not alone. I too, tried countless treatments to no avail. The treatment I finally found is an all natural treatment. If you are interested in using an all natural treatment, check out the image below to learn more about what I used to make my eczema disappear for good.

There are many different eczema remedies out there, but for right now, I want to take the time to discuss the various cream treatments that are out there. The creams are topical, which means you apply it directly to the affected area. There are steroid creams, non-steroid prescription creams, over-the-counter creams, and natural creams to choose from.

Steroid Creams

These are usually prescribed to help with inflammation, redness, and itching. There are several different options here, ranging from mild steroids, to very potent. Your doctor will be able to tell you more about which one he or she thinks you need based on your unique condition. Do not use these over the long term because of the potential for negative side effects. These are generally only prescribed for the most serious of cases.

Non Steroid Creams

There are also non steroid creams available by prescription, which work by reducing the allergic reactions in the body that cause eczema. They change the allergic reactions by altering the immune system, and therefore should not be used over the long term, and are typically only used when the patient does not respond to the steroid based creams.

Over-the-Counter Creams

Antihistamine creams are a great way to stop itching, redness, and inflammation of mild cases of eczema. Moisturizing and softening creams will help keep the skin moisturized and smooth to combat against eczema; as dry skin will contribute to the issue.

Natural Creams

Natural creams are made using herbal treatments known to treat eczema and other skin conditions. When choosing a natural cream eczema remedy, it is important to take a close look at the ingredients. Not all creams are the same, so making sure you are getting high quality ingredients is a major part of the battle. Also, it is important to make sure you are getting enough of the ingredients you need, because if there is not enough in the cream, it will not be effective.

As there are many different types of eczema, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to help you get rid of yours. It may take more than one cream, or various different treatments to get rid of yours. I have a natural treatment (click the image below to learn more about it) that I used to get rid of mine within three days, and I got rid of it for good. This natural treatment works for several different types of eczema, and you do not have to worry about side effects.
